Get Em J!!!!!!!!!

Born and raised in the Lone Star State Of Texas, GetEmJ, formally known as JS, been rapping since he could talk. It all started in a small city called Garland on the day of January 18, 1996. Growing up watching music videos from the early 90s & 2000s era inspired a young Juan to go in his backyard to just rap for hours in all kinds of weather. It got to a point mamma would have to force him to come inside. He would be right back at it the next day and everyday after that. Yet the older he got the more he wanted to elevate his music. School wasn't a challenge but he stayed getting in trouble. This led to a household where disagreements occurred often & usually ended with Juan in a squad car or the streets. One day after Juan got arrested his mamma went through his room to find hundreds maybe even thousands of papers notebooks journals anything you could write on all filled with lyrics. Than the unexpected happened, he was gifted a computer program to record music at home. Now the magic was about start

J started recording at home around the age of 12/13 but eventually began recording at studios. Never one to settle for less and with the help of his peers, more and more people started to listen to what J had to say in his music. So why not do some shows for everyone to hear? He began doing talent shows throughout high school or participating in freestyles here and there. Same teachers who said he wouldn't be sh*t were the same teachers nodding their heads to his songs!! Despite those teachers giving him hell and him not wanting to go to school, Juan managed to graduate from South Garland High School in 2014. Shortly after, J decided to put his first body of work out. It was Retribution time!

J recorded his first major project "Retribution" in 2015. The project had 15 songs one being the last feature with his close friend Matty Bee who died shortly before the release. Heartbroken by this loss, J dedicated his next project "The Matty Bee Project" to his fallen friend. With the help of Jonathan Booker and Andre Godwin, the project consisted of 7 songs all dedicated to Matty and was released in 2016. Ambitious as ever, Juan put out another project the same year called Antidepressants. This album contained two fan favorites I Ain't Mad At Ya and DFR which went crazy at the venues he performed at. Whether it was in his city or out of it!! He was on a roll!! So why stop? He switched it up in 2018 and took it to the West Coast with his next project John West. This EP was different however due to the fact it was only released on CDs. All CDs sold out and were well received by his fans & peers. The party didn't stop there though!! He continued to release singles and videos until 2019 when he released "Antidepressants 2" on streaming services. Antidepressants 2 gave him the recognition he wanted with the first song on the album, Riding Clean. It was posted on Worldstar, In Magazines, and shared on blogs. Not to mention he had everyone riding to it on the way to his shows. Now J was really getting em!!

J continued his momentum by releasing Diamonds In The Dirt in 2020. The EP was a joint collab with another Garland artist, Ray Aka YungDon. The duo made several songs together throughout high school and continued to make music after they graduated while maintaining a close friendship. The people loved hearing them together so it was only right to give them what they wanted. After driving to Mississippi to shoot a video for the second single off the project, Unwind, the duo quickly sold out of their CDs. Unfortunately it wasn't released on streaming services, but the reception was still well received.

Tupac will forever be a G.O. A.T! Therefore it shouldn't be a surprise that he was the inspiration behind J's next project Outlaw. Though the EP only contained 5 songs, it was enough to get his point across. With features from MO3 and Maylay, the project was hard, gritty, and uncut. Released in 2021, along with his Outlaw T Shirts, the EP showed the more aggressive side of Juan as he faced the hardships of being a young black man at war with himself and the world. Yet the harder he went, the more progress was made towards better days!

the next Ep titled Price of Progress, blended together politically charged themes and gritty narratives to tell of the sacrifices, heartbreaks, and hard learned lessons on the journey to success. It detours away from the hard trap sound and navigates to a positive uplifting tone to inspire listeners to run it up through adversity. The first song 'Guns & Butter' came with a visual to demonstrate the importance of investments and things meant to upgrade your value compared to things that depreciate over time. the project glorified the growth and maturity in j's music over the years.
Towards the end of summer 2025 J brought heat again. Combined w the oh so smooth energy of Dallas Rap Veteran Sno214, J dropped the mixtape G Code. With raw demanding lyrics to trap based beats that thump, Sno214 and J painted pictures of what it's like to be genuine and gangsta at the same time. Songs like Like Whoa bounce and make speakers thudd while songs like Circles remind you of the importantce of watching those around you. Legendary Dallas DJ, DJ D Real hosted the mixtape and brought positive reviews further solidifying another project under J's belt.
